Mahindra Indigo case
InterGlobe Aviation Ltd., the parent company of IndiGo airlines, has filed a lawsuit against Mahindra Electric Automobile Limited (subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra), regarding the use of the ‘6E’ moniker. Indigo has cited that the callsign ‘6E’ has been trademarked by it, while Mahindra argues that it has trademarked ‘BE 6e’ under a category that has nothing to do with Indigo and the objection has no relevance and is baseless. Furthermore, it stated that the move by Indigo is ironic as it had been involved in a dispute with Tata Motors in the past when the latter had a car called the Tata Indigo on sale in India.
